The latest versions of Android, 4.0 and up, have surpassed Gingerbread as the dominant operating system for the first time.
According to the Android Developer' Dashboards section, 45.1% of users are running Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) and Jelly Bean (4.1 and 4.2) on their smartphones — just squeezing past the 44.2% that Gingerbread (2.3) boasts
As for Android's less popular versions, Honeycomb (3.1 and 3.2) clocks in at 1.2%, while Eclair (2.1) and Froyo (2.2) have 1.9% and 7.6%, respectively. Donut (1.6), the OS' earliest version, still maintains 0.2% distribution.
